This is a short list of our most frequently asked questions.

How to travel by public transport in Sogn og Fjordane

  • Be on time. The buses, boats and ferries mostly run on schedule.
  • Signal the driver clearly that you want to get on the busvinke
  • Enter the bus via the front door and tell the driver where you are going.
  • Tickets can be purchased on board all modes of public transport in Sogn og Fjordane, and you may pay both with card and cash.
  • You cannot buy a round trip ticket on the bus, generally you have to buy the ticket when you get on the bus.
  • Stay alert so you know when your stop is approaching. Most buses has on-board stop announcements that tells you the next two stops. If you are not sure when to get off the bus, sit close to the front and ask the driver to call out your stop.
  • If there are seatbelts on the bus, it is mandatory to use them. You can be fined if you don’t.

Prices and tickets

How much does the bus journey cost?

We don't have a fare calculator on our website.
You can calculate the price of your journey yourself by finding how long your journey is, and finding the price in the table here.

Can I buy the ticket online?

It is not possible to buy tickets online for local buses in Sogn og Fjordane.
You can buy a ticket online for the express buses, either on nor-way.no or nettbuss.no.
You can also buy tickets online for express boats on norled.no.

Can I pay with card on board?

Tickets can be purchased on board all modes of public transport in Sogn og Fjordane, and you may pay both with card and cash.

Are there discounts for certain groups?

There are discounts for senior citizens, children, students, groups (2 or more travelling together) and others on buses, boats and ferries in Sogn og Fjordane. Learn about the different discounts on kringom.no/discounts.

Can I buy a travel card?

A value card can be used instead of cash to pay all travels on bus, ferries and most boats (not applicable for cars on boats) in Sogn og Fjordane. Several persons can share one value card. The card must be topped up with a minimum of NOK 300, and gives a 17 % discount when the card is used to buy tickets over minimum fare. It can be bought directly from the bus driver, or the ticket inspector on board the boat or ferry. There is a deposit of NOK 100 when you buy the card, that is refunded when you return the card.

Can I buy a round trip ticket on the bus?

You cannot buy a round trip ticket on the local buses, generally you have to buy the ticket when you get on the bus.

Do I have to reserve a seat in advance on the bus?

Single travellers within the county need not make seat reservations.
Groups of more than 9 people must contact the bus company to make seat reservations in advance.
For journeys with Nettbuss Express in our out of Sogn og Fjordane you may have to buy a ticket in advance on nettbuss.no.

Do I have to reserve a seat in advance on the express boats?

Secure your seat on the expressboat by making a reservation before you go.
You can make a reservation by:
- booking your ticket at norled.no
- sending an email to Customer Center at booking@norled.no, or
- calling Customer Center at +47 5186 8700

When do I receive my card?

If you have ordered a travel card and want to know when you will receive the card, you can contact the company you ordered the card from. The contact information you can find here.

Can I bring animals on the bus?

Dogs/animals are not allowed on NOR-WAY Bussekspress’s and Sjukehusbussen’s services in Sogn og Fjordane. Police dogs accompanied by uniformed police, or service dogs accompanying someone who is visually impaired, are allowed.
You should be aware that this prohibition applies where NOR-WAY Bussekspress are responsible for local services. On other local services, dogs are allowed, unless the driver judges the dog to be of harm, nuisance or inconvenience to other passengers.

Can I travel with a wheelchair?

All Kringom buses have wheelchair lifts and room for minimum one wheelchair.
